Ringstaff, 61 of Harlan passed away Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Lafollette Medical Center, Lafollette, TN.

Stephen was born September 8, 1950 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Travis Layne Ringstaff and Mildred Sizemore Ringstaff. He was a Disabled Veteran of the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Travis Layne Ringstaff; son, Daniel Ringstaff.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Sizemore Fernsel of Harlan; his son, Abarim Ringstaff of the Pacific Northwest; brothers, Lyndon (Bianca) Ringstaff of Portland, Oregon, Mykal (Melissa) Ringstaff of Harlan; 1 sister, Marilyn Ringstaff of Rome, GA; he leaves several nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Sunday May 20, 2012 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Mykal Ringstaff officiating.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday May 22, 2012 at the Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, West Virginia.

Phyllis Davenport, 85 of Stanfill passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington following a brief illness.

Mrs. Davenport was born March 18, 1927 at Bardo, KY to the late Emory and Ora Sheets Hopkins. She was a graduate of Hall High School, homemaker and member of the Liggett Baptist Church.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her infant son, James Edward Davenport; 2 brothers, Eugene and Ralph Hopkins; 2 sisters, Betty Bailey and Peggy Macko.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 65 years, Edward Davenport of Stanfill; her son, Dennis (Anita) Davenport; 2 daughters, Patricia (John) Adkins of Fresh Meadows, and Sandra (Tony) Mabelitini of Romulus, MI;

6 grandchildren, Sydney and Justin Davenport of Lexington, Karen (Edwin) Luxon of Richmond, KY, Angel Elliott and Joe (Lisa) Mabelitini all of Romulus, MI, and James Mabelitini of Monroe, MI;

7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dr. Jerome (Jackie) Hopkins, and Tom (Kay) Hopkins all of Lexington; 1 sister, Jane (Jeff) Weathers of Lexington; she leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8:00 pm Friday May 18, 2012 at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday May 19, 2012 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Sean Daniels, Rev. Joe Howard, and Rev. Doug Henry.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.

She was a lifelong resident of Cumberland, a homemaker, and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband the late George Phillips; her parents the late Hiram and Addie Howard Dixon; brothers Howard, Jack, and Bill Williams, and Robert Taylor; sisters Geneva Williams, and Betty Jean Dixon.

Survivors include a sister she loved as a daughter, Barbara Lewis, of Hiram, KY; Madge Miles, of Cumberland, KY; and Martha Bowling, of London, KY. Brother Jim Taylor and wife Helen, of Equality, IL. Grandchildren Cathy Creech and husband Sonny of Linefork, KY; Lisa Bennett and husband Darby, of Harlan, KY; and a special granddaughter that she cherished, Cindy Browning and husband Paul of Cumberland, KY. Great-grandchildren Paul IV and Lindsey Browning, Aaron Creech, Corey, Jon, and Brennen Bennett. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Tri City Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2pm at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Conn, and Rev. Bill Combs officiating. Following the funeral service burial will take place in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery at Hiram.

Paul Browning, Sonny Creech, Darby Bennett, Corey Bennett, Aaron Creech, and Paul Browning IV will serve as pallbearers. Lindsey Browning, Jon and Brennen Bennett will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife; Betty Jean Turner Adams; father, Bernard Adams; grandparents, Johnny and Armilda Mullins, Herman and Laura Adams, Bradley and Cloye Couch, and Hubert and Ida Mullins.

He is survived by his mother, Billie Jean Adams, of Bledsoe; brothers, Jonathan Bradley Adams, Lewis Dean Adams, Jonathan Forester Adams, and Jeremy B. Martha was born on January 14, 1943, to Arthur and Sally Stewart in Harlan County and had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the House of Prayer at Putney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, John C. Roberts; a daughter, Sally Jo Roberts; sisters, Goldie Stewart and Opal Lee Watkins; brothers, James Stewart, Tommy Stewart, Benny Stewart, Billy Stewart, Arthur D. Stewart, David G. Stewart and Delmore Stewart; and a sister-in-law, Mary Stewart.

Martha is survived by five children: Iris Adams of Rhea, Jackie McMillian and friend, Roasie Melton of Evarts, Johnny H. Roberts of Rhea, Tony Roberts and wife, Pauline, of Baxter, and Vanessa Perkins and husband, George, of Baxter; a sister, Jean Turner; two brothers, Alex Stewart and wife, Janice, and Odell Stewart and wife, Martha; sister-in-law, Jewell Stewart of Rhea; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 16, beginning at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Harlan Funeral Home with funeral services at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Bruce Bingham and the Reverend Jerry Kirby will officiate.

Burial will follow at Park Howard Cemetery at Wallins. Pallbearers are grandchildren, George Perkins, and other family and friends.

Clifford Burgan, 86 of Cranks passed away Saturday May 12, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Burgan was born Oct. 9, 1925 at Cranks, KY to the late John Calvin and Cora Lee Powell Burgan. He was retired foreman for Langley Morgan Construction Company and Veteran of the United State Marine Corp and served his country during WW II.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Raymond Burgan; sister, Kila Wilson; Brother-in-law, Archie Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Burgan of Cranks; his daughter, Coretta (John) Mitchell of Cranks; grandsons, Doug (Kim) Mitchell and Dale (Jeannie) Mitchell, Johnathan (Amber) Mitchell all Cranks; 3 great grandchildren, Whitney Mitchell and Alyssa Mitchell, and Roscoe Ball; sister, Betty Smith of Harlan; he leaves several nieces, nephews other relatives to mourn his passing.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, VA with Rev. Robert Landis officiating.

There will be no visitation.

She is held in the memories of her sister, Shirley Blackburn of Mainesville, OH; children, Alan Bledsoe of Partridge, Anita (Dale) Lewis of Partridge, Sallie (Samuel) Sparkman of Gordon, Kevin (Terenia) Bledsoe of Cumberland; grandchildren, Jarrett (Lanette) Lewis of Cumberland, Amanda (Dana) Noyes of Scottsville, VA, Samantha Sparkman of Middlesboro, Shane Sparkman of Gordon, and David Bledsoe of Cumberland; great grandchildren, Antaya and Akayla Lewis, Ethan and Autumn Noyes; and a host of loved ones and friends.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, between 6 – 9 pm. Funeral services for Clara will be held in the chapel on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 2 pm with David Maggard officiating. Interment will follow in the Maggard Cemetery at Partridge. Jack Amburgey, Sr., 72, of Verda, formerly of Columbus, OH passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home. Jack was a machinist for many years and was last employed by P&R Machine Tools in Columbus. Jack was born August 13, 1939 in Tots, KY and returned to Harlan County after retiring. He was a member of the Turner Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Amburgey, Sr. and Allie Caudill Amburgey; one granddaughter, Jessica Amburgey; two brothers, James Amburgey and Ira Amburgey, Jr.; four sisters, Molly Marcum, Phyllis Blevins, Irene Hall and Geneva Rutherford.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce Ann Smith Amburgey, Verda; one son, Jack Amburgey, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, Kevin, Anthony and Aaron Amburgey all of Columbus, OH; and one great-grandchild due in December. Also surviving are three brothers, Raleigh Amburgey and wife, Brenda; Mark Amburgey and wife, Connie; and Clark Amburgey and wife, Henrietta; two sisters, Marquita McClain and Mildred Carr.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 9 pm and Wednesday from 10 am until 9 pm at the Turner Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Turner Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Kirby officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with Kevin Amburgey, Anthony Amburgey, Aaron Amburgey, Chris Napier, Harvey Napier, John Smith and Michael Smith serving as pallbearers.

Military rites will be performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Willis Ray Dillman, Rio Vista; two sons, Peyton Kyle Dillman, Rio Vista and Willis Ray Dillman Jr., Fort Drum, NY; two brothers, Scotty Williams and wife Debbie, Crab Orchard, KY; Mackey Williams and wife Janie, London, KY; two sisters, Starr Clem and husband David, Rio Vista and Carla Jo Hammons and husband Arnold, Rio Vista. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday May 15, 2012 in the chapel of Loyall Funeral Home with Arnold Hammons officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY.
